Portfolio Website: Round two
My portfolio site is ready for a second round of critiques!
I’ve made quite a few changes:
Fixed the icons so that they don’t flicker, and the hover preloads (they’re in the same image now)
Shortened the descriptions significantly [per my instructor, Michael Simon’s advice]
Trimmed the image selection down significantly [per my instructor, Michael Simon’s ...

What happens when you send a request out to the world to chronicle, via video, a single day on Earth? You get 80,000 submissions and 4,500 hours of footage from 192 countries. Producer Ridley Scott and Oscar-winning director Kevin Macdonald took this raw material — all shot on July 24, 2010 — and created Life in a Day, a groundbreaking, feature-length documentary that portrays this...
Ego Boost & Bummer
I just got recruited by an ad agency! Apparently the guys who printed my resume gave them a copy (awesome) - but then I told her where I live and she said “oh honey, you don’t want to work out here, we’re on the edge of Surrey and Langley.” Then I told her I don’t have a car, and that clinched it; no bus goes out there.
Damn.
(But cool)

A stolen computer: Update
Just a quick update on my previous post about what became of my computer thief.
A lot of you guys gave me advice (thanks) as to whether I should press charges, or what I should otherwise do to the guy who stole my computer. I appreciate all of the advice, I was having a really hard time trying to decide what to do. So here it is.
When I arrived at the portfolio show yesterday, I had to go...

My computer: Stolen and returned to me all on the...
Well, it’s graduation day, the big day that I have been looking forward to for 3 years. The day that I have been anxious about for 3 months. Today I show off all of the work that I have done, and announce to the world that I am a professional graphic designer. When I woke up yesterday it was all that I could think about, today I woke up and it was at the bottom of a long list of things to...

Portfolio: done. Done. DONE
Just one day after deciding that my portfolio was completely done, so done that I printed it ($230), I got some really good advice from my instructor, Michael Simmons [The Goggles] and completely re-vamped my portfolio. I went from 89 pages, to 61, took all of my descriptions down by 30% and knocked out about 20% of the images. Much more digestible.

To the makers of Photoshop...
What do you think is more likely? That I need to turn my art board on an weird angle so often that I need a track pad short cut … or that I get so annoyed that I have to turn off photoshop because accidentally turn my art board on a weird angle all the time from this stupid track pad short cut.

The Boy Above My Bed: Full Book
Quite a while ago, I promised to post my book … and never followed through. Until now! I’m still trying to figure it out, and I made the executive decision not to sacrifice quality on this particular item - so you’ve got to give it a minute. But voila! one children’t book illustrated with sculpy and written by yours truly.

CSS NINJA: Turning background images to links
I am still trying to wrap my head around web design, but I just figured out a little trick that made my life SO much easier. There is this neat little function called *visibility*. Watch this magic as I turn a background image to a link.
